Canis Media has launched a new division targeting businesses that want to set-up local TV services.
Canis Local TV will help interested parties, such as the London Evening Standard, to gain a licence and launch a TV service across the 65 towns which have been earmarked for local TV.
The “one-stop shop” package will provide business planning advice, research, advertising, technical support, as well as commercial and creative development.
The division, which opened today, is headed up by Clare Bramley who helped to establish start-ups including Vintage TV, Fitness TV, SA Direct TV and Horse & Country TV.
Ed Hall, chief executive of Canis Media Group, said many of the businesses which are interested in launching local TV services have no background in broadcasting.
“Canis Local TV has been formed to provide all the broadcast, commercial and production services local TV operators will need to avoid the pitfalls and capitalise on the opportunities available to them,” said Hall.
