Former Blink Films exec’s new indie sets up rig in parlour co-run by Posh Pawnbrokers star

Channel 4 is revisiting Britain’s salons with a four-part fixed rig series - 14 years after it wrapped up reality series The Salon.
The Super Salon, which will air on E4, will go behind the scenes at the Stylebar, a two-floor Sheffield superstructure that is home to nearly 50 stylists, beauticians and barbers.
The series will follow the late-night pamper-and-party experiences and the colourful characters at the family-run business, owned by siblings Cherise and Dan Hatfield.
The latter is already known to C4 viewers as the owner of the shop in Boomerang’s format Posh Pawnbrokers and one-off show Collection Hunters, which aired last weekend.
The Super Salon is the first commission for Frieda TV, an indie set up recently by former Blink creative director Jon Lloyd, who will executive produce.
C4 formerly aired a reality series based in a beauty salon between 2003 and 2004, in which members of the public were invited to have treatments in a purpose-built studio. A petition to revive The Salon by presenter Rylan Clark-Neal has been signed by 5,700 people to date.
The Super Salon was commissioned by C4 head of formats Dom Bird and formats commissioning editors Simone Haywood and Kate Maddigan.
Haywood said: “We’re excited to bring this extraordinary salon and staff to a national audience with all the laughs, gossip and drama that comes with them. It promises to combine the cherished pastime of a trip to the salon with the entertaining party personalities that we love so much here at E4.”
Lloyd added: “As soon as you walk in to the Super Salon, you realise you’ve never seen anything quite like it. The amazing staff and clients constantly amaze us and rigging this unique salon promises to offer huge laughs, lots of heart and astonishing stories.”
