Clear Cut Pictures has converted one of its offline rooms into a hybrid offline/online suite, equipping it with Media Composer v5, Boris FX and Sapphire plugins.

Business development manager Richard Hobbs said there is a demand for hybrid rooms from producers who want to eliminate a stage of the process to reduce cost. Productions dry hire the room with their offline editor performing the grading and online during the edit.

“This is backed up with our desire to find the most cost-effective solutions for our clients,” Hobbs said. “Hybrid rooms give all the functionality of an online suite as they have all the hardware and software but without the trimmings associated with being in final post.”

BBC News used the room for The Bottom Line and Zeppotron completed the post for the pilot of its forthcoming 10 O’Clock Live show in the suite.
