Just weeks after Channel 5 snapped up the UK format rights to adventure gameshow Desert Forge, the original French version of the show has been axed from primetime for poor ratings, writes Paul Michaud.
Transmission of Les Forges du Desert has been suspended by public network France 2 after just two of its six episodes. The remainder of the run, which was backed by a budget of $10 million (£6 million) is now waiting for a new slot outside primetime.

The gameshow is a co-production between France 2 and producer Expand, the company behind entertainment show Fort Boyard - also shown by C5.
