Walt Disney Television International has poached Emap Advertising managing director Tom Toumazis to take charge of its European distribution operation, writes Simon Ellery.
Toumazis will join early next month as Walt Disney Television International European Distribution senior vice-president and managing director, reporting to Walt Disney Television International president David Hulbert.

Overseeing a 200-strong team, he will take charge of Buena Vista International Television in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, replacing former head Sally Davies, who left last November.

Toumazis, a former Eurosport UK managing director, who has also worked at LWT and Scottish Television, told Broadcast: 'They are keen for me to not just look at the day-to-day operation - that is running fine - but to bring a different perspective.'

The operation licenses 4,200 hours to more than 300 broadcasters and has 95 branded shows airing each week in 43 countries.
