A+E Studios will produce Liev Schreiber-fronted series in association with Range Studios

Apple TV+ has ordered a drama adaptation of Lars Kepler’s Joona Linna crime novels from The Lincoln Lawyer producer A+E Studios.

Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) will star alongside Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who moves to a small town in Western Pennsylvania for a quiet life. But soon the town and his own family comes under attack by a serial killer, played by Stephen Graham (Adolescence).

The as-yet-unnamed 10-episode drama is written, showrun and executive produced by Rowan Joffe (Tin Star) and John Hlavin (Shooter), with Tim Van Patten (Masters of the Air) executive producing and directing the first two episodes. A+E Studios produces in association with Range Studios.

Schreiber and Beetz will also serve as exec producers – Beetz via her Sleepy Poppy production company – alongside Oystein Karlsen, David Rysdahl, Dorothy Fortenberry, Niclas Salomonsson and Kepler, whose crime novels have sold 18m copies in 40 languages.

Lars Kepler is the pen name of Swedish authors Alexander Ahndoril and Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril, whose Joona Linna series includes titles like The Hypnotist, The Nightmare, and The Fire Witness.

Filming is set to begin this summer in Pittsburgh.

A+E Studios has previously adapted Garth Risk Hallberg’s novel City on Fire for Apple TV+.
