Eagle Rock Entertainment has swooped on the global TV distribution rights to The Brit Awards 2011, previously held by FremantleMedia Enterprises.
FME has handled the international TV rights to the annual music awards for the past three years. But Eagle Rock has now secured the global rights (excluding the UK) to the glitzy event, which it last held in 2007.
Andrew Winter, managing director of TV sales and music acquisition at Eagle Rock, said: “When Eagle Rock last distributed the Brit Awards, we sold it to more than 30 international broadcasters across Europe, the US, Australia, Japan and South America.
“We anticipate that the 2011 show will be even more popular with audiences worldwide.”
The awards, which celebrate the achievements of the British recording industry and the talents of international artists, will be hosted at London’s O2 arena for the first time on 15 February.
Last year’s event, hosted by comedian Peter Kay, was broadcast to tens of million of viewers in more than 40 international territories.
