He will travel to inaccessible locations to investigate strange and inexplicable markings which have baffled scientists.

Stafford will self-film each episode, accompanied only by a shooting director.

River Cottage producer Keo Films is producing the series after Stafford partnered with Tigress on Marooned and its follow-up, Naked and Marooned.

Ed Stafford Trailblazer was commissioned by Elizabeth McIntyre, vice president of production and development, factual at Discovery Networks International.

It is exec produced by Discovery’s Helen Hawken and Keo’s Will Anderson and Matt Cole.

It will air in the third quarter of the year on the Discovery Channel in the UK, as well as across its network of international channels.

“The drive to find out about our world, and ourselves in the process, is a core element running through our programming, “said McIntyre. “Ed typifies a mix of curiosity and adventure that truly resonates with our audience and his new challenge responds to that thirst for discovering the unknown.”
