Dock10 will add commercials VFX and post-production to its range of media services after buying 100% of the shareholding of Manchester-based facility Edit 19.

The deal, which will be completed in April, will see all 11 members of staff, and the company’s kit, re-locate from Quay Street in central Manchester to MediaCityUK in Salford where they will be absorbed into the Dock10 business.

The Edit 19 brand will be retired on completion of the deal and the lease on its central Manchester facility will not be renewed.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Dock10 chief executive Mark Senior said: “Alongside our existing post-production, 360-degree virtual reality and content management services, Dock10 now has a compelling offer for the advertising and corporate markets where the volume of high-end video content is increasing dramatically.

“In addition we can now offer an experienced VFX capability to our broadcast clients.”

Edit 19 operates as a boutique facility offering high-end visual effects, animation, motion graphics and HD finishing services to broadcast, commercials and corporate producers.

Originally set-up as an in-house facility by the owners of the commercials production company The Gate, Edit 19 has extended its client base in recent years to include other producers and agencies in both Manchester and London.

Its broadcast work includes promos for BBC Sport and titles for CBBC’s Kickabout+ and ITV’s Real Stories. Commercials clients include Vodafone, Samsung and Mercedes Benz.

The purchase of Edit 19 is Dock10’s first acquisition since its launch in 2011.

Dock10 is owned by the Peel Group.
