WEDNESDAY: France’s second Euro 2016 outing failed to hit the heights of the tournament opener as BBC1’s documentary about a ‘talking’ gorilla proved the best of the rest.

The second Group A fixture featuring the hosts could not outscore the 6.7m (33.5%) who watched their first game against Romania on Friday.
The coverage peaked towards the end of the match at 9.50pm as 7.9m (37.8%) tuned in to see two late French goals.
The game comfortably beat the channel’s 4.2m (21%) slot average for the last 12 months, according to overnight Barb figures supplied by overnights.tv.
Opposite on BBC1 across the hour from 8.30pm, PBS co-production Koko: The Gorilla Who Talks To People informed 3.3m (15.7%). The one-off failed to meet the channel’s 4.5m (21.5%) slot average.

Canal+’s cinematic drama slipped slightly for its third episode but continues to average 1.6m (8.9%), comfortably ahead of the channel’s slot average of 1m (5.5%).
On Channel 4 across the hour from 9pm, 24 Hours In Police Custody continued with 1.5m (7.2%), down on the 2m who tuned in the previous week.
It was followed at 10pm by the second episode of Hat Trick Productions’ Jack Dee fronted Ballot Monkeys spin-off Power Monkeys.
The comedy based on the EU referendum amused 580,000 (3.3%) between 10pm and 10.35pm, falling from last week’s 750,000 (4.7%) launch episode.
Channel 5 rounded off the evening’s viewing on the terrestrial channels with 1.3m (6.3%) tuning in for The Hotel Inspector across the hour from 9pm.
