Live broadcast specialist EVS has appointed former Newtec boss Serge Van Herck as its new CEO, taking over from interim CEO Pierre De Muelenaere at the end of 2019.

Van Herck will complete a transition period with De Muelenaere, who is leaving on January 1, 2020. EVS said he was “leaving for new projects.”

Van Herck was CEO and president of Belgian-based satellite broadcast specialists Newtec from 2006 to 2016. He has also worked at Proximus, Accenture and Eutelsat.

EVS chairman De Muelenaere has been interim CEO since July 2018.

De Muelenaere said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Serge Van Herck as the new CEO of EVS. I’m convinced that his extensive CEO and broadcast market experience will be important assets for the future of EVS.”

Van Herck said: “I’m joining EVS after a successful interim period of Pierre De Muelenaere and I’m very grateful that I will be able to rely on his experience in order to perform a smooth transition.”
