Five has handed an hour of its weekly Shake! block to Nickelodeon, replacing its previous content deal with Disney.

The agreement will see Five air shows including iCarly and True Jackson in a Sunday morning “tween” slot presented by Jen Pringle, where Disney’s Hannah Montana and The Wizards Of Waverley Place previously aired

It builds on the existing content sharing relationship between Nickelodeon and Five, which already share pre-school brands such as Peppa Pig and Ben And Holly’s Little Kingdom.

Nick Wilson, Five’s director of children’s programming, said: “We are delighted to welcome talented teens Carly and True to Shake!. They’re already hugely successful shows on Nickelodeon both in the UK and abroad and are going to bring a special, sassy sparkle to Sunday mornings on Shake!.”

True Jackson centres on a “no-nonsense teenager” of the same name, who is talent-spotted for a job as vice president on a youth clothing line and has to acclimatise to office life “as if it’s just another day in high school”.

Meanwhile iCarly, one of Nickelodeon’s biggest brands, follows 13-year-old Carly Shay who is catapulted to overnight fame courtesy of her homemade web show.

Debbie MacDonald, Nickelodeon UK vice-president and programming director, said: “We’re delighted that these two phenomenally successful teen and tween shows are taking over the ever popular Shake! block.

“The shows have built up a huge global fan base and offer the best in tween and teen lifestyle television, including comedy, fashion, drama and every day high school issues which our audiences really identify with.”
