The team behind BBC Worldwide’s Global iPlayer has received a boost with a trio of promotions and appointments.
Riccardo Donato has been appointed to the newly created role of head of commercial and strategy for the VoD service.
Working closely with general manager Matthew Littleford, Donato has been charged with building and maintaining the overall business plan for the business.
He joins from BSkyB Entertainment, where he was business manager. Prior to this, Donato also held the role of head of business development at Virgin Media.
Littleford has also promoted two members within the existing team.
Current commissioning editor Derren Lawford is stepping up to become head of programming and scheduling.
Lawford has been responsible for developing the editorial shape and strategy of the service since its launch back in May.
In his new role, Lawford takes on responsibilty for all programming and scheduling of shows in all territories and on all devices as well as driving the content acquisitions strategy for the app.
Paul Williamson has also been promoted to head of editorial operations, responsible for managing day to day operations of the service and content delivery in all territories.
Williamson was previously editorial operations manager, having joined the team in January last year.
