WEEKEND: Gogglebox climbed to a series high on Friday as ITV drama The Level bowed out with a series average of 2.6m.

Hillbilly TV’s six-part crime thriller remained unable to compete with BBC1 or Channel 4 as it bowed out with a performance in line with its series average.

After opening with 3.2m (16.4%), the show never managed to best the channel’s 3.3m (16%) slot average for the last 12 months.

Have I Got News for You, hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell, won the slot for BBC1 from 9pm to 9.30pm with 4.4m (21.5%), ahead of the sixth episode in the latest run of Channel 4’s Gogglebox.

It was a series best of 3.3m (16.7%) for the Studio Lambert format, which is tracking below the 3.6m (17.3%) previous series average.

BBC2’s FA Cup Match of the Day Live coverage pulled in 1.4m (7.1%) from 7.30pm to 10pm. The score draw between Swindon Town and Eastleigh peaked with 2m at 9.36pm.

Earlier in the evening, BBC1’s series five launch of Citizen Khan was watched by 2.9m (13.8%), down on the channel’s 3.5m (16.8%) slot average. It also failed to outperform the series four opener, watched by 3.2m (17.2%) in October 2015.

370,000 (1.8%)

A peak of 540,000 (2.7%) watched the annual event in Glasgow, which was well ahead of the 260,000 (1.2%) who tuned in to last year’s ceremony, according to Barb data from overnights.tv

Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1) 6.55pm-8.15pm
9.7m (46.2%)

BBC1’s dancing competition peaked with 10.6m (51.1%) at 7.47pm, winning the slot.

On ITV The X Factor aired form 8pm to 9.45pm to 5.6m (27.2%), with a peak of 6.7m (32.4%) at 8.52pm.

Over on BBC2, coverage of England vs Scotland Rugby League pulled in 740,000 (3.6%) from 7.30pm to 10pm while Britain’s Ancient Tracks with Tony Robinson was watched by 1m (5%) from 8pm to 9pm on C4.
