Danny Goldman, chief executive of indie Power, has stepped down after just six months.
Business affairs chief Susan Waddell will take on the role on an interim basis with immediate effect.
A statement from Goldman is expected later today but the former Sony Pictures Television exec is understood to have taken a position at another company.
Power is best known for making big budget disaster dramas such as Day of the Triffids and Flood.
The company went into administration in September, unable to repay an estimated £12m loan to Lloyds Banking Group, but was saved by South Afica’s Sabido Investment.
Justin Bodle, then chief executive, was replaced by Goldman in January to bring stability to the company and focus more on distribution.
Power has struck recent deals with TMG, GK-tv and RHI to add recent remakes of classic tales to its catalogue including Neverland, Treasure Ireland, Camelot and Moby Dick.
It also has three adaptations in the pipeline based on stories by the late Alistair Maclean, writer of Where Eagles Dare and The Guns of Navarone, as well as new miniseries from RHI.
Waddell said Goldman was “part of getting Power to this point and he should be proud of that”.
“This is an exciting time for Power,” she added. “Over the past months we have forged a durable foundation from top quality programming and a diversified portfolio.
“I look forward to helping guide Power forwards.”
