Silver River has hired the executive producer behind Sky 1’s An Idiot Abroad and Channel 4’s forthcoming Katie: My Beautiful Friends as its first head of factual.
Mentorn Media’s Dan Goldsack is joining the indie with a remit to boost its fact-ent skills and broaden its ties to broadcasters.
Goldsack joined Mentorn in 2007 as head of development before becoming an executive producer, also working on ITV1’s John Sergeant On The Tourist Trail.
He starts in the newly created position at the end of March, reporting into Daisy Goodwin.
Samantha Lawrence, head of production for Silver River, said the hire broadened the indie’s skills base. “Dan will bring factual entertainment experience,” she said.
“We have a core market base with broadcasters such as C4 and BBC2, but want to build up our relationships with Sky and break into other channels too.”
Goodwin added: “Dan’s experience and mindset will be a welcome addition to the Silver River slate.”
During his time as head of development at Mentorn, Goldsack helped secure commissions for BBC3’s Underage And Pregnant, Sky 1’s Hairspray: The School Musical and BBC4 two-parter John Sergeant On Tracks Of Empire.
