Granada International has struck£4.5m-worth of deals at this year's MipTV market, including new sales of Agatha Christie detective drama Poirot.

HBO in Latin America, Russia's TV Center and Prime TV in New Zealand have all picked up the new 4 x 120-minute episodes of Poirot. All nine series of the drama have been acquired by Modern Times in Greece and Intervision in Japan for DVD and video.

The series of new deals made in Cannes last week tops the£3.2m-worth of sales the company made at Mipcom last October.

This was due in part to the growth in new platforms such as video on demand. Japan's Intervision acquired 50 hours of drama for its video on demand service, including series such as Crackerand Reckless.

Movie packages also helped top up the figure, with Granada America TV movies, including Melanie Griffith vehicle Lethal Seduction, selling to broadcasters such as HBO and Pramer in Latin America, TV Azteca in Mexico and Hallmark Middle East.
