Former ITV chair takes position at Acamar Films
Acamar Films names Peter Bazalgette as chairman

Indie producer-distributor Acamar Films, the outfit behind global hit Bing, has appointed industry veteran and former ITV chair Sir Peter Bazalgette as its chair. Here he will work alongside chief executive Mikael Shields and the Acamar management team as the group looks to accelerate its global expansion. Bazalgette succeeds investor David Brierwood as chairman, but Brierwood will remain on the board. Bazalgette has been co-chair of the UK’s Creative Industries Council since 2021, chairs the Royal College of Art and previously chaired Arts Council England. He has served on Acamar’s board for three years.
Helen Mirren among festive guests for The Repair Shop

The Repair Shop is to welcome special guests including Dame Helen Mirren, Julia Donaldson and Rob Brydon for an hour-long Christmas special. Mirren will bring along a cello dating back to the Second World War, which belongs to a care home for people who have worked in the entertainment industry. Donalson, the author of the BBC’s forthcoming Christmas animated adventure, The Scarecrows’ Wedding, will team up with Brydon who has voiced many characters in her adaptations.
They will seek to repair to a toy farmhouse that was given to Donaldson by her granny. The Christmas special was commissioned for BBC1 by Julie Shaw and Catherine Catton. The executive producers for Ricochet are Emma Walsh, Sandy Watson and Hannah Lamb and the series producer is Shane Normoyle.
Media industry agency opens in West Midlands
The West Midlands has boosted its production infrastructure with the creation of Production Central WM. The agency has been set up to support film, TV and digital content production in the region and enable established domestic and global broadcasters, producers, location managers and UK filmmakers to deliver their creative projects in the West Midlands. It is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), delivered by the West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC), and is partnered with Create Central. The office will be managed at WMGC by Martin Simms, with the launch project led by Graham Webb, executive lead at Create Central.
