PSB-backed streaming service gets new smart TV brand partners
More smart TV brands on board with Freely
Four more smart TV brands are partnering with the PSB-backed streaming service Freely, which allows viewers to watch live TV channels via the internet for the first time. Everyone TV has announced that the new partners are Toshiba, Sharp, Panasonic and Metz. Freely launched on Hisense smart TVs in April 2024, and on Bush smart TVs in May 2024. Everyone TV (formerly Digital UK) is responsible for the day-to-day running of Freeview, Freesat and Freely.
Eurosport doc unearths stories behind greatest date in Olympic history
A new Eurosport documentary explores the greatest date in Olympic history which has seen defining moments ranging from Super Saturday at London 2012 to Jesse Owens’ winning spree at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Featuring exclusive interviews, the doc titled August 4th- An Olympic Odyssey is set to premier on Wednesday 3 July and will be available on Max, Discovery+ and Eurosport. It is produced by the in-house team at Warner Bros. Discovery.
More CEE broadcasters buy The Vow
StudioCanal has sold daily drama The Vow to broadcasters across the CEE region, including TVP Polish Television, ERR Estonia and LTV Latvia. Produced by Bambú Producciones for TVE (Spain), The Vow centres around Jana, a maid working at the waning yet ruthless House of Luján. Other CEE broadcasters HRT Croatia, KTV Kosovo and LRT Lithuania, who had previously acquired The Vow and aired the first season, have signed up for future seasons.
RTS Student Television Awards winners crowned
The Royal Television Society’s annual Student Television Awards saw the National Film and Television School pick up eight awards across the 24 categories, with five of their students winning each craft award, including camera work, editing, production design, sound and writing for the postgraduate categories. Three projects from the school achieved both a crafts and genre award - Crab Day, Jellyfish and Lobster and With Woman. The RTS Student Television Awards 2025 have been launched, with submissions open until 4 November 2024. The full list of winners can be found here.
