Mentorn Media’s former specialist factual boss Malcolm Clark has set up an indie with new production incubator The Hot House.

Clark, who has spent the past six months as a development producer at Love Productions, has established Glasgow-based Seriously TV.

It will be backed by Hot House, the network set up by former ITV Studios executive Remy Blumenfeld and Power founder Justin Bodle earlier this year. Hot House’s first investment was Steven D Wright’s Kerfuffle TV last month.

“Malcolm is a visionary programme maker who broadcasters trust to deliver. We are committed to giving him the support and creative freedom that he will need to develop new ideas,” Blumenfeld said.

Clark was an executive producer at Mentorn between 2003 and 2008, rising to creative director, specialist factual.

After leaving the Tinopolis-owned indie, he has had spells at History, Discovery and PBS overseas before returning to the UK as a series producer at Blink Films in 2012.

He later became head of development at Attaboy TV, where he developed ITV series Deals Wheels and Steals.

Clark then linked up with Blumenfeld at Thinking Violets, the latter’s old production venture, for three months before joining Love as a development producer.

Clark said: “From epic history to in-depth shows on science, the programming you’ll see come out of Seriously TV will be informative and enjoyable with a big serious idea at the heart of all of them.”
