The dominance of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent and Coronation Street forced the final episodes of BBC1’s Have I Got News for You and Not Going Out to series lows on Friday.

The satirical quiz was hosted by Frank Skinner, who was unable to drum up a significant audience in a slot opposite Corrie. The performance was below BBC1’s slot average of 5.37m (23.16%) for the past 12 months.

Overall, the nine-part series averaged 4.63m (20.56%). This was below the equivalent run last year, which pulled in an average of 4.95m (21.85%) viewers.

3.32m (14.67%)

Lee Mack’s comedy also bowed out on a low. The eight-part run averaged 3.69m (16.77 %), according to overnight Barb figures supplied by Attentional.

The talent contest recorded its second biggest live audience of the week for the main show between 7.30pm and 9pm. In the 30-minute slot between the two shows, Coronation Street drew 9.03m (39.2%).

BBC2’s history documentary was next in line, narrowly fending off Sarah Millican on C4.
