Lion TV is to document the great all-inclusive British summer holiday for Channel 4.

The Secret Life of the Holiday Resort (w/t) is a 3 x 60-minute series which will travel to the Costa del Sol’s largest all-inclusive resort during the busiest weeks of the season.

The series will follow the army of staff who keeping 3000 guest happy by serving four tonnes of bacon, five tonnes of chips and 6000 litres of beer a week.

The series was commissioned by C4 factual entertainment commissioning editor Lucy Leveugle and was developed by Emma Lorenz, Katharine Patrick and Samia Murphy.

It will be executive produced by Lion’s factual creative director Richard Bradley and Lisa Edwards and series produced by Katharine Patrick.

Edwards said: “It’s been a fascinating summer to make a series like this – with the Brexit vote and fears about terrorism. The chance to observe British holiday makers in one of the biggest resorts on the Costa del Sol was an unmissable opportunity.”

Lucy Leveugle added: “This series offers a light-hearted anthropological look at something we can all relate to – the holiday in the sun. It will warm up the coldest of winter viewing evenings.”
