ITV is set launch Men & Motors on Freeview next month after paying around£5m for a slot on Crown Castle's digital terrestrial television platform.

ITV is relaunching the channel and has hiked its commissioning budgets to up to£30,000 an hour. It will target 16 to 34-year-old lads with more lifestyle and formatted content.

Men & Motors commissioning editor Joe Talbot has sent out a commissioning brief asking for shows in the vein of MTV's Pimp my Rideas well as "character-driven" observational shows based around motor-sport events.

The late-night content is set to move away from risque adult entertainment to focus on things like street crime, stag/hen night stories, sexy clip shows and punchy documentaries about the adult industry. There are also plans for a broadband site.

ITV had been considering eventually turning Men & Motors into an ITV4 proposition but executives have cooled on the idea. They are understood to be developing ITV4 as an altogether different channel, which could be launched this year.
