Mentorn International is to launch a new comedy division and has secured the first pre-sales for Sky 1 travelogue An Idiot Abroad 2.

The comedy arm of the distributor will launch with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s new BBC/HBO sitcom Life’s Too Short and Channel 4’s Sirens, which follows the antics of a team of paramedics.

It will also represent An Idiot Abroad 2: The Bucket List, which follows Gervais’ podcast sidekick Karl Pilkington as he experiences ‘things to do before you die’ in locations around the world.

The first series was produced by Mentorn and the 7 x 60-minute second series was made by RiSK Productions. It debuted last week with more than 1.3 million viewers.

Mentorn has already sold the documentary series to Discovery Science in the US, Discovery Canada and Ten Australia. It has also been picked up by NRK Norway, SVT Sweden, TV3 Denmark and ITC Iceland.

Mentorn International managing director David Leach said there was already “an enormous amount of interest” in the new titles.
