RAJAR 4Q08: BBC Radio 1 breakfast host Chris Moyles regained some of the listeners he lost over recent quarters, by clocking 7.3m listeners in the latest set of Rajar figures.

The total put the controversial DJ back to where he was a year ago.

However, across the board, BBC Radio 1 dipped slightly, down from 10.7m to 10.6m. Yet its share, at 10.1% was up slightly up on the 9.8m it pulled in last time.

Meanwhile, BBC Radio 3 saw its reach rise slightly to 1.98m from 1.95m both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year.

Elsewhere, BBC Radio 5 live and its digital service 5 live sports extra registered a combined 6.1m. This was up on last quarter's combined 5.94m but down on last year's 6.2m.

Furthermore, in digital-only services, "alternative" station BBC 6 Music recorded its sixth consecutive record reach, with 619,000 listeners tuning in - a rise on both the previous year and quarter.

The BBC World Service increased its reach to 1.4m - up from 1.2m last year and 1.4m last quarter.
