BBC4 celebrated vinyl this week, but them days are gone. Or not, if ITV2’s new reunion hit is any guide.

It was a ritual: buy the album, read the sleeve notes on the bus home, slide out the record like it’s an ancient relic and carefully lower the needle. BBC4 celebrated vinyl this week, but them days are gone. Or not, if ITV2’s new reunion hit is any guide.

In BBC4’s Album season, the best of the Danny Baker’s Great Album Showdown trio was Tuesday at 9pm (500,000/2%). The best show of all was Friday’s When Albums Ruled The World (800,000/4%) at 9pm.

The second of ITV2’s The Big Reunion edged ahead of launch with 1.3 million/6% on Thursday at 9pm. As E4 wears the sprockets off The Big Bang Theory, Wednesday at 6.30pm (1 million/5%) was the best of this week’s 30 (!) episodes.

ITV3’s Midsomer Murders repeat achieved 1.2 million/6% on Saturday at 9pm; ahead of BBC2’s Howard Goodall’s Story Of Music (800,000/4%) and Channel 4’s World Without End (1.2 million/5% incl +1).
