Roy Addison, a veteran of Thames TV and the RTS, has died aged 66.

Throughout his career, Addison worked across a number of shows and companies, including his first job in the industry at Thames Television, where as a press officer he was responsible for current affairs and documentary programmes such as This Week and The World at War.

Rising in the ranks of the company, Addison went on to oversee the marketing of Thames’ stock market flotation in 1986.

He also worked as director of communications for Pearson Television, where he effectively re-branded the firm and was responsible for taking it online, and as executive vice president for corporate communications at RTL Group, before becoming a consultant in 2004.

During this time, he worked with companies in the UK and abroad, including the BBC, Belgacom, Satellite and Cable Broadcasters’ Group, the John Lewis Partnership and Wendel.

He was elected to the RTS Council in 1990, and was awarded an RTS fellowship in 2002. In 2007 became chair of the RTS Veterans Committee, a post he held until his death.

Addison’s family is holding a small private funeral and a memorial service is planned for next year, details of which will be made available shortly.
