Demonstrators outside the BBC’s Mailbox building in Birmingham were stumped when an Ikea van pulled up during their protest.
Was the Beeb planning a cheap refit to help flog off the building? No, as it turned out: a delivery rep rushed up and handed each protester Ikea chocolate and a Snärtig fake flower. Smiles all round - but no job offers, sadly.
Glitch? Take to Twitter
Hats off to Sky director of programmes Stuart Murphy for using the personal touch to keep Sky 1 viewers up to speed with the technical glitches that forced comedy drama Stella off the screen last Friday.
Explaining problems with the tape, he said: “We have been technically unable to put a caption on screen apologising, which is why I am tweeting.” Of course, put yourself at the frontline and brickbats will come your way.
“Our favourite is me being called ‘a waste of sperm’,” he tweeted. “As stressed as I was, that did make us all laugh.”
Red faces at C5’s PR team after it issued a teaser shot from Royal Marines: Mission Afghanistan that was more, er, revealing than planned. An eagle-eyed Radio Times reader choked on their cornflakes when they spotted that one marine (far right) wasn’t pointing with his finger but… oh dear. Talk about going commando.
