Passion Distribution has pre-sold a forthcoming series on strange deaths to AETN UK - completing funding for the show.

A second series of Curious and Unusual Deaths, produced by Toronto-based Lamport-Sheppard Entertainment, has been given the green light following the commitment by Crime and Investigation Channel UK and EMEA.

It will comprise 13 x 30-minute instalments - up from six episodes in the first series. Each episode features three bizarre deaths from the history books and uses modern science to offer an explanation.

The pre-sale was agreed by Passion Distribution director of sales Emma Simpkins and AETN’s senior manager of programme content Koulla Anastasi. The show has also been picked up by Foxtel’s Crime and Investigation Channel in Australia and New Zealand.

Filmed in high definition, the first series proved the highest-rating third-party acquisition for CI UK last year.

In addition, Lamport-Sheppard is opening a new London office in a bid to develop productions out of the UK.
