Pharos has opened a new software development facility at The Pie Factory in Salford.

The new office will be staffed by a four-person team and managed by Pharos software architect Brendon Abbott.

It will work alongside Pharos' current development infrastructure in Reading, but will not operate as a sales office.

The manufacturer hopes that its location will help with future improvements to its Mediator broadcast management system.

“It will be close to the operations at Media City which will be a really interesting place where new workflows in acquisition, production, post-production and publishing are sure to be pioneered,” said -Pharos marketing director Russell Grote.

Abbott has been with Pharos for seven years, most recently working on projects for MTV, BBC World Service, Channel 4, Ascent Media and HBO Singapore.

The Pie Factory is a joint-venture between Peel Media and post facility Sumners.

Pharos is also behind the Playtime automation and Pilot integrated device control products.
