Performance capture and virtual production specialist Imaginarium Studios has promoted Maeve Russell to chief operating officer (COO).

Russell was previously head of production and before joining Imaginarium Studios, she was vice president at Beyond Capture.

In her new role, Russell will oversee global studio operations, implementation of business strategy, and client operations as Imaginarium Studios expands its footprint and services across feature film, television, music content and video games.

“Maeve has been an invaluable asset to Imaginarium Studios, demonstrating exceptional operational leadership and a deep understanding of the evolving capture landscape,” said Matthew Brown, CEO Imaginarium Studios. “As our client base grows and project scopes expand across screen media and gaming, Maeve’s operational and production mastery make her the ideal leader to drive our work forward.”

“Taking on the role of COO at such a pivotal moment for Imaginarium Studios is an incredible opportunity,” adds Russell. “We are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in real-time performance capture and virtual production. I look forward to leading our fantastic team as we scale our capacity, broaden our technical capabilities, and continue delivering world-class service to creators of all scales.”

Alongside Russell’s appointment, Imaginarium Studios has also made a series of key additional internal promotions within its production and technical teams. Jess Hancock has been promoted to producer; Desislava Kutsarova steps into the role of motion edit department manager; Genevieve Myhan has become tracking department manager; Vritika Amarnani is taking up a new role of virtual production department manager; and Amy Whitwam takes up the role of facial animation department manager.

Imaginarium recently provided performance capture services for Marvel Studios’ Vision Quest, now streaming on Disney+, as well as the forthcoming feature Avengers: Doomsday. In the gaming space, the studio’s work spans major titles including Resident Evil: Requiem, alongside several upcoming, unannounced projects for multiple game developers.
