Will Garbutt joins the post house following an 11-year stint at Halo

Will at Racoon

Racoon has taken on Will Garbutt as commercial director.

He has had a long career in post-production, having spent 11 years at post-production house Halo, which went into administration last year after being acquired by Envy.

Garbutt’s final position at Halo was as commercial director. Before Halo, Garbutt was at Prime Focus for nine years and he worked at Arena P3 for four years before that.

Racoon managing director Meryl McLaren said: “I couldn’t be happier that Will is joining Racoon. Our shared philosophies of strong client relationships and exceptional service levels make us a formidable team. Racoon has grown organically over the last few years so this is a great time for Will to join us.”

Garbutt adds: “At a time of uncertainty and change in our industry, it is so exciting to be under the roof of such a progressive company like Racoon. They understand and embrace the cultural and technological advances in how post solutions are and will be provided to fi t modern day broadcast and content production. I am thrilled and proud in equal measure to be joining this team of post production legends.”

Racoon was founded in January 2021 and has two post-production facilities in central London (Margaret Street and Portland House, Fitzrovia) with centralised technology deployed in a data centre.

Its Portland House facility opened just over a year ago “to offer more collaborative production space on a large single floor,” says McLaren.

Racoon has recently provided post-production services on a wide range of productions including Kitchen Nightmares (Studio Ramsay for Fox Entertainment), Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke (Passion Pictures for Hulu/Disney), Race Across the World (Studio Lambert for BBC), 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Zeppotron for C4), Clarkson’s Farm (Expectation Entertainment for Amazon), Noel Edmonds’ Kiwi Adventure (Potato for ITV), Blur To the End (Feature documentary), Trump: Should We Be Scared (Passion Pictures for C4), America: The War That Changed America (72 Films for Apple).
