Chris Hay directed the film, working alongside Rainshadow co-founder Andrew Lynch and production executive Elaine Nankervis. Maxime Aubertin and Tom Boswell executive produced for Warner Bros. Discovery, with Paul Yoshida, Mehdi Jedraoui & Jose Manuel Tallada producing.

Rainshadow Films was founded in 2024, and this film marks the launch of its sport banner, Rainshadow Sport.

Lynch said: “It’s been a real privilege working with Grierson Award–winning director Chris Hay and Emmy-winning production executive Elaine Nankervis on The Match That Changed Tennis. For almost 15 years now, we’ve worked together across an array of both live and non-live sports, so bringing that shared history and trust into a project under Rainshadow Films’ new sports banner, Rainshadow Sport, felt like a natural and fitting continuation of our journey together as friends and colleagues.

“This marks our first sports documentary since Rainshadow began, and launching it under Rainshadow Sport makes it particularly meaningful. The film came together in just a few short months, made possible by the tremendous support of the brilliant Warner Bros. Discovery teams in the UK and France. From day one through to the final stages of post-production, it was a genuine team effort, with the highly skilled and efficient post-production team at Dpost helping us deliver the film in time for the start of the Australian Open.”
