Gordon Ramsay’s One Potato Two Potato is making a bold step into drama and has two projects in development with different US networks.
The indie, a joint venture with All3Media stablemate Optomen Television, is keen to diversify into what the chef described as “food related, high-end kitchen drama”.
One project revolves around “two young thoroughbreds setting up a restaurant in New York”.
Optomen development director Ben Adler said it was more common for producers in the US to make both scripted and unscripted shows.
“We’ve paired up with some fantastic talent,” he said. “We’ve proved we can do entertainment shows, business makeovers and straightforward cookery, and now we want to push boundaries. That’s where scripted comes in.”
Optomen managing director Pat Llewellyn said the strategy had the potential to significantly build the OPTP business. “Gordon opens doors for us but we’re also building IP, so we’re not always dependent on him being on screen,” she added.
