Bray, who worked at C4’s film arm for seven years, replaces former Vice exec Pegah Farahmand after she left the broadcaster earlier this year to join Maker Studios.

In her new role, Bray will commission shorts, work with Arts Council England’s Random Acts Network Centres, oversee the strand’s online and television output and forge new partnerships.

A former commissioner for 4Talent Networks, her shorts and feature films have screened at Sundance and the BFI London Film Festival.

Bray will report to head of specialist factual and arts commissioning editor John Hay who said she had “arrived in a blaze of energy and brilliant ideas”.

“Random Acts is the only arts strand of its kind, giving artists and filmmakers of every discipline and background a major platform to showcase their originality, wit, ambition and creativity,” she said.

Meanwhile Little Dot Studios is to produce the third series of the supercharged Random Acts strand which is due to launch this spring.
