RDF is to document a series of transgender journeys across two years for Channel 4.
The Secret Life of Four Year Olds indie will follow a group of trans people through their transitioning journey in the 4 x 60-minute Trans Mission (w/t).
From the initial decision-making process to the medical consultations and procedures that follow, the show will examine the social and cultural challenges of gender transitioning, as well as life beyond the transition.
Trans Mission was commissioned by C4 deputy head of features Alex Menzies and will be executive produced by Andrew Anderson and Daniel Fromm.
Menzies said: “The bravery, honesty, wit and warmth of the people whose stories we will be telling are a real source of inspiration. To be able to give a small section of Britain’s transgender community the opportunity to share their personal experiences over such a long filming period is truly unique.”
Anderson added: “This is a wonderful opportunity to shine a light on an often misrepresented world, allowing those at the very heart of it to tell their own story.”
Last month the broadcaster commissioned Factory Films to produce All 4 series A Trans Guide to Winning at Life, featuring vlogger Lewis Hancox [pictured].
