Sky News executive producer Nick Phipps has sent out a farewell email to viewers of the Sky Report, which ends tonight as part of the channel's return to rolling news.

In the show's daily email, Phipps writes:

'We won't be running a compilation of our show's greatest hits - it would be absolutely the wrong day to do it - but tonight we as a team will certainly be remembering some of them.

'We've broken news, from the share dealings of Tessa Jowell's husband to the views of Sir Cliff Richard on political correctness and Christmas. We've brought exclusive pictures to the screen, from the last footage of Gary Glitter before his paedophile conviction to the family life of slashed schoolgirl Shanni Naylor.

He added: 'All this won't be lost - our talented producers, reporters, editors and cameramen will continue making stories for the whole of Sky News rather than just our hour - so do keep looking out because we hope to surprise you.'

Phipps was filling in for the show's host Anna Botting who usually writes the daily email but is presenting a live show from the 7/7 final ceremony.

Last month Sky announced it would reverse many of the changes made as part of its multi-million pound relaunch unveiled last October.

The 7pm Sky Reportis being replaced from Monday by two hours of rolling news from 6pm fronted by Jeremy Thompson and Anna Botting.

Sky News this week also revealed details of its new two-hour Martin Stanford-hosted flagship primetime show, which will replace World News Tonightfrom this Monday. Sky News with Martin Stanfordwill run between 8pm to 10pm and feature the channel's usual mix of live reports, breaking news and interviews with the day's newsmakers.
