AE Live has announced a partnership with broadcast technology company Quidich.

Quidich uses a number of techniques to enhance sport productions, including drones, buggies, four-point systems and optical player tracking. It has also become the first company to deliver broadcast grade augmented reality (AR) content on live drone feeds, through its proprietary tracking engine, Spatio.

Spatio provides AR graphics with drone shots, and is an aspect of Quidich’s work with the likes of BCCI, Star Sports and ICC. AE Live will now look to integrate these solutions into its offering.

Alastair Robbins, AE’s commercial director, said: “We have worked alongside Quidich at several sporting events, such as the 2020 Indian Premier League, and we have been impressed with their ability to create incredible aerial shots and incorporate data and graphics.

Gaurav Mehta, Quidich’s co-founder, added: “We’re certain that with AE Live’s proven prowess in data and graphics, combined with Quidich’s commitment to bringing machines and machine learning to live sport, broadcasters and leagues globally will have the opportunity to provide their audiences new and fresh perspectives, adding to the storytelling of the game and enhancing visual appeal.”
