The peer-to-peer technology allows remote editors to drag and drop media files directly into creative applications from locations thousands of miles away

Strada has launched Strada Connect, which makes it possible for a remote editor to bring video files, audio files, and images stored in one location into any creative application with a simple drag and drop.
No file transfers or file uploads are required, and no cloud storage is used – the media remains in place the whole time.
Strada Connect is built on top of Strada’s peer-to-peer networking technology, Strada Agents, which was unveiled at NAB last year.
This technology works with consumer-grade internet connections, simplifying workflows for remote teams and, Strada says, significantly saving time and costs with the elimination of the cloud for transferring and storing files.
Strada Connect was unveiled during a slick YouTube live presentation last night, with the Strada team demonstrating the technology with a video editor in Dallas, Texas (Ryan Connolly) successfully dragging and dropping video and audio clips and still images – shot live during the launch – stored on a computer in LA (1,400 miles away).
The editor dropped the files into Adobe Premiere Pro in Texas, linked the audio up to the video clip and exported the new video clip onto his computer in Texas, where the Strada team was instantly able to watch the video clip on their mobile phone in LA.
“For the first time ever, remote editors can collaborate without spending time uploading to cloud storage, or spending a fortune to keep it there,” said Michael Cioni, CEO of Strada. “With Strada Connect, we’re removing that burden entirely, allowing customers to edit unlimited assets directly from their local storage – without paying to store any of it in a cloud. This is a complete paradigm shift in how creative teams build workflows around remote collaborators.”
Ryan Connolly added: “The term Game Changer is thrown around quite a bit, but this is absolutely that. For us specifically, it is really going to solve so many issues.”
Strada describes Strada Connect as “the first peer-to-peer creative editing experience for remote teams”.
It works directly in a computer’s Finder window, allowing editors anywhere in the world to edit directly off any remote drive without having to transfer any media.
Remote collaborators can instantly and securely access files without having to first upload them to a cloud or spend time transferring them locally.
Strada Connect is initially available on MacOS (with plans for Windows support later this year) and works on a variety of storage including internal drives, direct-attached drives, network-attached drives, and camera cards.
“We’ve been in the trenches with our customers, listening to their biggest pain points,” added Michael Cioni. “What we learned is that the true bottleneck isn’t finding media – it’s accessing all of it quickly and affordably. As teams continue to collaborate remotely, Strada Connect is the solution.”
Strada Connect is available now on Strada’s paid subscription tiers, which start at US$8/month.
