Healthy growth set to continue this year
Advertising expenditure on television rose by more than£200 million last year, according to figures from the Advertising Association.

Latest figures from the trade body show UK expenditure on TV advertising to have risen from£3.687 billion in 1998 to£3.893 billion in 1999, an increase of£206 million. Radio advertising spend rose from£421 million to£465 million over the same period.

UK advertising expenditure as a whole grew by almost£1 billion in 1999 to exceed£15 billion for the first time. It was the eighth consecutive year of growth for the industry and the association expects the current rate of growth to continue throughout 2000.
