Indie TV Corp's ball-tracking system Hawk-Eye has been cleared by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for use as an official umpiring aid.

The system works out the trajectory of the tennis ball and can be used to decide a line call. Until now, umpires have not been allowed to rely on any technology, and must make the call themselves.

But after exhaustive tests - during which it scored 100% for accuracy - Hawk-Eye has now been approved by the ITF and can be relied upon when a player contests one of the line judges' calls.

The decision will allow the system to be used in international tournaments. The news comes just days after Welsh indie Tinopolis admitted is was eyeing TV Corp for a potential takeover.
