“All extremely silly stuff that isn’t pretending to be anything else”

Celebrity Hunted

Celebrity Hunted, C4

“Let’s get this out of the way: Celebrity Hunted (in aid of Stand Up to Cancer) is completely stupid television. The concept of celebrity ‘fugitives’ spending two weeks on the run from a crack team of ex-police and military personnel, armed with replicated powers of the state, is ludicrous. The thing about Hunted though, is that it knows just how bonkers the whole thing is and understands that it will only work if everyone involved takes it incredibly seriously. And boy, do they. All extremely silly stuff that isn’t pretending to be anything else.”
Rachel Sigee, The i

“We’ve seen so many previous series of Hunted that the show is running out of ways to maintain tension. It relies heavily on a soundtrack of pounding drums, which keeps you on the edge of your seat if only because you have to get up every ten minutes for paracetamol. At least this time it’s in aid of Stand Up To Cancer. Your headache is in a good cause.”

Station Eleven, Starzplay

“Station Eleven is a slow burn. The first few episodes look beautiful but move at a stately pace. If you can stick with it, you will be rewarded. Having established its Serious Credentials, it gains confidence and begins to move away from the elegiac tone that threatens to overwhelm it.”
Lucy Mangan, The Guardian

“There is a deep strangeness to this drama, adapted from a novel by the Canadian writer Emily St John Mandel. At several points during the five episodes to which I had access, I didn’t really know what was going on. If you dislike multiple timelines, then steer clear. The show brings to mind David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas, a set of tonally different stories all linked.”
Anita singh, The Telegraph

Cry Wolf, Channel 4

“Cry Wolf was skilfully executed, brilliantly acted, well written — and almost entirely unenjoyable. Extraordinary though the performance was by Flora Ofelia Hofmann Lindahl, it was harrowing, almost suffocating, to watch. An excellent drama to which I won’t be rushing back.”
Carol Midgley, The Times

“Trigger Point remains as predictable as a McDonald’s Happy Meal, but it’s becoming slightly more satiating. Good cliffhanger at the end with the man chained in the mosque, but, again, you just knew it was coming.”
Carol Midgley, The Times

“Last week’s opener had the power of a water cannon. Until the final ten minutes, this second episode was just a dripping tap. It picked up with the discovery of a nailbomb on a timer in a mosque. But I no longer trust Trigger Point to deliver excitement.”
Christopher Stevens, Daily Mail
