“You can’t help but feel the latest film worked its way through to commission along an unbroken chain of whey-faced men who have had privilege and comfort foisted upon them at every turn. Hatton Garden: The Great Diamond Heist is the tale of “the largest burglary in English legal history” we are told – but to not quite as compelling an effect as you suspect the makers intended. It took place 11 years ago and although it dominated the headlines back in those halcyon days when things smaller than the destruction of the world could habitually make the cut, I suspect it has largely failed to live in the minds of the generations since.”
Lucy Mangan, The Guardian

”Victimless? Hardly. It was important to hear other contributing voices (all male, by the way) which included the smooth-talking former Flying Squad detective Marlon Pinto, the fabulously dry trial judge Christopher Kinch, and the Hatton Garden trader Jigar Choksi, who lost half of his valuables in the raid (though fortunately he was insured). Collins described the loot as “rubbish… old, old stuff, it was very hard to f***ing sell… If it was £20 million we would be very lucky to get two.” Charming.

“It was still grimly compelling, even if you have seen the various films and documentaries that have already been made about this subject by producers irresistibly drawn to its many stunningly idiosyncratic, very British touches.”
Ben Dowell, The Times
