Blink Films series sells globally
UKTV series John Torode’s Asia is to travel around the world after TVF International struck a number of pre-sales deals.
The Blink Films-produced 10 x 30 minutes cooking series, fronted by the MasterChef co-host and judge, is heading to Foxtel Australia, which has pre-bought the title for its Lifestyle channel.
National Geographic Channels Asia also acquired the series and will launch it in 2018.
The pre-sales were brokered by Asia and Middle East, North Africa senior executive Sanaya Irani and Australia and New Zealand sales executive Catriona McNeish. The deal with Blink Films was struck by head of acquisitions Will Stapley.
Lifestyle Group general manager Hannah Barnes said: “John Torode is a firm favourite with our viewers and his previous series have performed very strongly for Lifestyle.”
Laura Glassman, vice president of factual channels for National Geographic, added: “Audiences in Asia Pacifica and the Middle East and North Africa have voracious appetites for food-focused content.”
TVF recently pre-sold its Aerial Asia franchise to Discovery Asia; Japan from Above to France TV; Magnificent Megacities to Fox Iberia and BBC Arabic; and BBC4’s The Amazing World of Gravity and Seeing the Beginning of Time to AMC Networks Europe.
