The producers of BBC2’s Autumnwatch are using a new encoding workflow provided by reseller Tyrell CCT that lets them broadcast and publish user-generated footage as part of the wildlife series.

The file-based set-up for the BBC Vision show makes use of Anystream’s Agility encoding technology to automate and streamline the production of video for both television and online.

Material submitted via the Autumnwatch website is transcoded into Avid IMX 30/MXF wrapped format to enable integration with the post-production workflow.

The encoded output is then delivered by Agility to an Avid Unity shared storage system where the Autumnwatch editing team can incorporate it into edited sequences.

“The new format for Autumnwatch enables us to develop theshow and in particular facilitate the growing demand for viewer interactionthat we are experiencing,” said executive producer Tim Scoones. “Agility allowsus to easily overcome the technological challenges associated with usergenerated content.”

Tyrell CCT also provided consultancy services and on sitesupport.
