ITV 1's graphic look at the world of plastic surgery picked-up over 1 million more viewers from last week, writes Jon Rogers.

The second part of Under the Knifeat 21.00 yesterday (5 August) which followed people undergoing sexual-performance surgery and so-called 'surgery tourism' impressed 6 million (27.8 per cent share), according to unofficial overnights. This was an increase of 1.2 million from last week's opening programme that attracted 4.8 million (22.6 per cent).

The programme overlapped both BBC 1's Merseybeatat 20.30 which attracted 5.6 million (26 per cent) and A Life of Grimeat 21.30 which had 5.7 million (26.5 per cent). ITV 1's Airlinealso won its slot at 20.30 with 7.4 million (34.5 per cent).

Later, the start of BBC 1's documentary series Trail of Guiltat 22.35 managed a respectable 3.1 million (21.7 per cent) but was out-classed by ITV 1's Real Crime: the Heiress and the Kidnapperat 22.20 gaining 3.8 million (26.1 per cent).

Over on Channel 5 the start of the new quiz Swapheadsfailed to draw much interest with just 300,000 (1.5 per cent) tuning-in at 19.00. Channel 4's news at 19.00 had 900,000 (4.2 per cent) and BBC 2's repeat of The New Adventures of Supermanat 18.45 pulled in 1.7 million (9.6 per cent).

At 21.00 the second part of C4's Sex BCattracted 2.4 million (10.9 per cent) while BBC 2's comedy The Kumars at No 42at 21.00 had 2.1 million (9.5 per cent). BBC 2's new quiz show Liarat 21.30 managed just 1.8 million (8.5 per cent). C5's film One Hot Summer Nightmeanwhile averaged 1.7 million (8.7 per cent).
