Hewes will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Mentorn, while Willis will become the Question Time indie’s chairman.

The Wall to Wall executive will also become chief executive of Pioneer, taking over from Stuart Carter, who is retiring from his role as chairman.

Hewes joins on 24 August and will report to Tinopolis Group chief executive Arwel Rees and Willis, who will continue with his role as the super-indie’s creative director alongside his new chairman duties at Mentorn.

Hewes said it was “going to take something special to tempt me away from Wall to Wall after 20 years”, adding that the opportunity at Tinopolis “is just that”.

During his time at Wall to Wall, Hewes held senior roles including head of factual programmes, creative director, deputy chief executive and most recently head of international.

He initiated Wall to Wall’s move into theatrical documentaries with Oscar and Bafta-winning Man On Wire, which he executive produced, and developed a wide range of the company’s programming for UK and international broadcasters.

Rees said: “Jonathan brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge and award winning programming experience on the international stage.”
