The BBC has drafted in the editor of World at One to take over Radio 4's flagship Today programme, replacing former editor Rod Liddle who was forced to step down from the role last month, writes Georgina Lipscomb
Kevin Marsh, who also edits PM and Broadcasting House, will take on the role later this month, reporting to BBC head of radio news Stephen Mitchell.He will help develop the agenda of R4's breakfast show, which has been overseen by Liddle for the past four years. Liddle was forced to step down after a row over comments he made in a national newspaper which the BBC declared were in conflict with its non-partisan stance.Marsh joined the BBC as a news trainee in 1978. Following a brief stint at ITN, he rejoined the BBC in 1987 as World at One deputy editor. He became editor of PM in 1989. Four years later, he moved to become editor of World at One.
