The company, which also made The Truth Behind the Moon Landingsfor Five and Channel 4's recent X-Rated: The Ads They Couldn't Show, is currently looking for premises in the US, in a move to expand its growing US business.
It is in discussions with its US-based affiliate producer Ronnie Krensel about heading the new office, which will employ a handful of core staff.
Fox Network recently commissioned Zig Zag to make 4 x 60-minute makeover series, Who Wants to Live Forever, and the company is currently producing two broadcast pilots for TLC, as well as a three-part series for Discovery Times and a one-off for National Geographic.
Zig Zag has also decided to set up a new office in Brighton as a joint-venture with DVD distribution company Lace International called Zig Zag South. It will develop TV and DVD ideas.
The office will be jointly run by Lace's Neil Oughton and Rob Sloman and will aim to take advantage of C4 and BBC regional production quotas. Lace group managing director Adam Lacey and Zig Zag's Danny Fenton will oversee the new venture.
Zig Zag could also have a base in Manchester as part of a consortium of smaller indies under the New Independent Producers Alliance banner (Nipa). Nipa, which also includes Betty, Monkey and Radar, has put in proposals to the BBC, C4 and the North West Regional Development Agency about helping to pay for a base in Manchester.
