Cake has snapped up the distribution rights to children’s show Pocoyo, after ITV Studios Global Entertainment walked away from the series earlier this year.
Cake has been appointed distributor of the animated show by brand management firm Zinkia Entertainment, which created Pocoyo in 2003 with co-production partner ITV Global.
Under the new agreement, Cake will handle all television, digital and DVD rights to the entire Pocoyo library, which consists of 156 x 7-minute episodes as well as a 25-minute special.
The only exceptions will be Spain, Latin America, the US, Italy and Portugal, which Zinkia will continue to handle.
Cake will debut the third series of the show, titled Let’s Go Pocoyo, at MipCom next month, having recently completed production.
The animated series, aimed at children aged three to six, is now on channels in more than 150 territories.
It airs on CiTV in the UK, is narrated by Stephen Fry, and has won a Bafta for best animation series.
